Barranco del Infierno

Special Nature Reserve

The trail begins 350 metres above sea level on a natural balcony with magnificent broad views over the landscape. With the town of Adeje in the background, hikers encounter numerous animal and plant species, some endemic to the island of Tenerife and some of which are unique specimens found nowhere but the Barranco del Infierno.

Difficulty: medium-high. If you suffer from vertigo, you may experience symptoms during the first stretch of the path, which takes around 30 minutes.

Duration: 3.5 hours (round trip). 6.5 kilometres.

Ascent: maximum 200 m.

Footwear: hiking boots. Beach sandals are not allowed.

Times: the path is open from (summer times. 1 June - 15 September) 8.30 am to 4 pm, (winter times. 16 September – 31 May) 8.30 am to 5 pm.

Price: €11.00 non-resident adult. €4.50 resident. Adeje resident €2.50. Children aged 5 to 12 years 50%. To qualify for reduced rates you must provide documentary evidence that you are a resident/registered citizen of Adeje. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Capacity: maximum 300 people/day.

Children under the age of five are not allowed. Animals (dogs) are not allowed to enter this Special Protected Natural Reserve.

Getting here

By bus: catch the 416, 417 or 473 towards Adejefrom the tourist area. The journey takes around 15 minutes. When you arrive in the town of Adeje, get off at Avda Constitución (Bus 416) or at the Correos stop (Buses 417 and 473). Once there, the route to the ravine is perfectly signposted.

By car: take the TF1 motorway towards Adeje­ Guía de Isora. After about ten minutes, take the Adeje exit.
